What's involved
A spay is an operation under general anaesthetic to stop a female dog having puppies. The vet removes the ovaries, and often the womb too. Most dogs go home the same day.
Prices usually rise with your dog's weight, because bigger dogs need more anaesthetic and a longer operation. Some vets offer keyhole surgery, which costs more but can mean a quicker recovery.
