The short version. You can use every part of this site without telling us who you are. We never store photos of bills, and we strip names, addresses, phone numbers, pet names and account numbers out of anything you send. There are no adverts, no tracking and no analytics.

What we collect and why

A bill on its own does not identify you. We do not ask for your name or email to send one, and we never publish a single bill. Prices from bills only appear as a range once at least two bills for the same visit have been checked.
Our legal basis
We rely on legitimate interests: running a free price comparison that helps pet owners, and keeping it secure. We have weighed this against your privacy, which is why we keep so little and nothing that names you.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its database, reads bill photos with its Workers AI service, and blocks abuse. Cloudflare does not keep bill photos or use them to train models.
- postcodes.io turns a postcode into a location. Our server sends it the postcode only, never your IP address.
- OpenStreetMap supplies the map pictures. Your browser fetches them directly, so the OpenStreetMap Foundation sees your IP address, as any website you visit would.
Fonts and the map code are served from our own site, so nothing else is loaded from third parties. We do not sell data or share it with anyone else.
Cloudflare may process data outside the UK. Where it does, it is covered by the UK's approved data transfer safeguards in Cloudflare's data processing terms.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it. Because we hold so little, there is usually nothing that links back to you, but ask and we will check. Email hello@thevetbill.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would like the chance to put it right first.
